OTIXO, a Germany – Colorado based startup, collaborated with Eastern Enterprise to deliver an Integration Service for Cloud Storages, such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, box, and many more.

OTIXO is among a handful of companies that provide cloud aggregation services across mobile and web. With more than 30 clouds integrated into an advanced feature set, Otixo has downloads running into the hundreds of thousands across Apple, Android and Windows App stores.

Otixo brings team collaboration and communication into one place so you can get more work done. They enable you to connect all your cloud services and collaborate with your team with access to more than 30 cloud drives, such as Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, MEGA, OneDrive, FTP and many more.

The market has no shortage of cloud storage services but for every service provider one must create a different account that has to be tracked and maintained. As the cloud computing hype continues to grow, OTIXO wanted to develop a single platform which would allow users to integrate all their cloud storage services in one place thereby having the end user only maintain one single account. The client also wanted to implement global search capability so users need not remember on which drive which file has been saved.

The most challenging task for Eastern Enterprise was to craft a single interface where multiple data would be managed under one hood. The client’s main aim was to develop a single platform to maintain multiple drives where users can share files across multiple platforms.

Our solution

Eastern Enterprise investigated the needs and requirements of the client and identified areas for improvement that resulted in reduced costs, reduced maintenance requirements, reduced risk of data loss and increased security.

The solution we provided was a database structure that could handle complex metadata from JSON and proactive suggestion regarding UI/UX. We integrated multiple cloud based SDK’s with secured authentications and authorizations on the client as well as the server side. We also developed an HTTP cache mechanism for offline file storage. At the core of our solution was easy file syncing from the desktop to the cloud. As a result users could access their files from anywhere, sync data, and share files with others from one place no matter what cloud it was hosted on.

Eastern Enterprise proposed the following technologies to easily reach the requested functions:

  • Java 7

  • Android SDK

  • iOS

  • Objective C

  • REST full Services

  • ORMlite

End result

By partnering with Eastern Enterprise, our client was not only able to tighten the security of their cloud-based platform but was also able to leverage other benefits such as:

Improved performance, enabling customers to access the data faster.

Significantly reduced costs.

Give customers hybrid multi-cloud flexibility.

Reduced the risk of data loss.

The customer was delighted to see that the application we developed perfectly mirrored their initial requirements. Currently, the Otixo application is immensely successful with 10,000+ downloads on the Google play store.

Key benefits

  • Cloud storage is generally more affordable. Eliminates the cost of hardware and maintenance.

  • Access your files anytime, anywhere, on any device. No need to transfer files onto USBs or email files to yourself.

  • Ability to sync your files so all your data will be up to date on all devices, all the time.

  • Collaborate with your co-workers at work using the most up to date files is made easy.

  • You save on personal storage space, which means your hard drive will be less cluttered and perform better.

In 2013 we wanted to expand our service to Android, iOS, Windows, and Windows Phone platforms with native applications. Eastern Enterprise delivered exactly this. Their team members adopted immediately to our highly effective agile development process. Every team member worked most efficiently and we also had lots of fun with everyone of them whenever we met the team personally.
