Powering a Fortune 500 Client’s IoT Back-End with DevOps Excellence

Enabling Global IoT Innovation Through Secure, Scalable, and Agile DevOps

Eastern Enterprise helped a top-tier global client transform its IoT back-end services into a secure, scalable, and agile DevOps ecosystem, enabling faster deployments, stronger security, and global reliability.

About
the Client

The client is a Fortune Global 500 leader in electrification and automation, with operations in over 100 countries. For more than 140 years, they have pioneered technologies that connect industries and drive sustainable progress. Today, their IoT platforms connect billions of devices across energy, robotics, and automation, powering industries worldwide.

The
Challenge

The client’s IoT back-end program supports mission-critical services such as Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM), Device Management, License & Subscription Management, Firmware & Connectivity Management, Disaster Recovery for CIAM (West Europe to North Europe), and Installed Base Management.

As global adoption scaled, the client needed a DevOps framework that could deliver enterprise-grade security, consistent deployments, and operational agility. Legacy pipelines and manual processes were creating inefficiencies and slowing down innovation.

OUR
SOLUTION

Eastern Enterprise, in partnership with ValueLabs and Ideakettu, delivered a phased DevOps transformation designed around stability, scalability, and optimization.

Stabilize & Secure

We established master CI/CD pipelines with Terraform and Azure DevOps, automated certificate management through Azure Key Vault, and safeguarded applications with Azure Web Application Firewall. DNS zones were migrated and stabilized with Traffic Manager profiles, creating a secure foundation.

Scale & Automate

Deployments were standardized across development, test, staging, and production environments using Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS). Ingress controllers and automated load balancing improved traffic routing, while automated cluster upgrades and infrastructure updates reduced manual effort and improved resilience.

Monitor & Optimize

Dynatrace and Grafana were integrated for real-time monitoring and performance insights. Our team provided continuous release support, debugging, and ad-hoc fixes, while working closely with the client on sprint planning and backlog refinement for ongoing improvements.

Technologies
& Tools Used

Eastern Enterprise proposed the following technology to easily reach the requested functions
Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS)
Terraform/Terragrunt
Azure Services – Key Vault, App Insights, Web Application Firewall (WAF)
Azure DevOps Pipelines – Azure Boards
Unix Shell Scripting
Dynatrace & Grafana
Traefik Ingress

Key
Outcomes

Streamlined and repeatable deployments across environments.

Improved reliability with proactive monitoring and observability.

Strengthened security through automation of certificates, DNS, and firewalls.

Greater agility, enabling the client to adapt quickly and support global IoT rollouts.

The Result

With Eastern Enterprise as a trusted partner, the client now runs its IoT back-end services on a DevOps backbone that is secure, scalable, and built for the future. Core systems like Device Management and CIAM operate seamlessly across environments, empowering the client to deliver IoT innovation worldwide with speed and confidence.
